Offering lessons, studio space, fine stoneware and dinnerware in the Washington DC area.
I've just finished teaching one session of classes, and will be teaching my next set in Fall 2009. Please click here to send me an email to be put on my email list to be notified when registration starts.
About private lessons -
I offer one-on-one individualized hour long lessons on a wide variety of topics dedicated to increasing your pottery skills. These lessons are most useful for people who already have an understanding of the ceramics process and experience with throwing, and can be a good adjunct to renting studio space (see below). For example, if you know how to throw but have never put together a teapot, we can spend an hour learning about spouts and lids and attachments, then you can continue to work on your own in the studio at your own speed. If this sounds interesting, drop me an email.
I plan on teaching group classes again starting in Fall 2009. For more information, go here. Or, go to my LINKS page for a list of local pottery classes and their contact information.
About studio space -
If you are looking for a place where you can work on your own and continue to improve your skills and knowledge, check out my studio space. I have wheels, hand building equipment, glazes and kilns. Renters get keys to the studio and can come and go as they please. If you're interested, email me here.
About the stoneware - I have been studying the craft and art of pottery for 19 years. My wheel thrown, functional pottery takes its aesthetic cues from the art and culture of countries I have lived and studied in: Lebanon, Iran, India, Bangladesh, France, Italy and the United States. My motivation to throw pots stems from my belief that the presence of a simple clay pot can call upon the elemental magic of earth, water, fire and air to enrich our everyday life.
